Michel Butter was born on 5th November 1985 in Beverwijk, the Netherlands, and now lives in Castricum. He has had an impressive career as a long-distance runner, excelling in events ranging from the 5000m to the marathon. Growing up, Michel’s passion for running began alongside his love for football. Every weekend, he and his father would seek out regional running competitions in North Holland, especially if there were trophies to win. This sparked a competitive drive that eventually led Michel to join the professional running team, Distance Runners.

Over his career, Michel has achieved impressive personal records, including 13:37 in the 5000m, 28:38 in the 10,000m, 1:02:25 in the half marathon, and 2:09:58 in the marathon. He’s also a 14-time Dutch Champion across various distances, from the 5000m to the marathon. Internationally, Michel’s notable performances include finishing 7th in the 2012 Boston Marathon and 6th in the 2017 NYC Marathon.

With his expertise Michel Butter plays a crucial role in overseeing performance development, leveraging his expertise as a top athlete to help the Team Novus athletes reach their full potential.
