Vanessa Herzog was born on 4th July, 1995 in Austria. From a young age, she showed a natural talent for ice skating and soon started participating in local competitions. As she grew older, her passion for speed skating only grew and she began to dedicate herself fully to her training and competition schedule.

Her hard work and dedication paid off when she was selected to represent Austria at the 2013 World Sprint Championships in Salt Lake City. This was a major achievement for Herzog, and she went on to perform exceptionally well, demonstrating her talent and ability. This performance caught the attention of the Olympic Committee and she was selected to compete at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi at only 18 years old.

At the 2014 Winter Olympics, Herzog continued to impress, competing in the 500, 1000, and 1500 meter events. Her dedication and discipline paid off, and she broke the Austrian records in each of these events, solidifying her place as one of Austria’s top speed skaters.

In 2016, Herzog married her coach, Thomas Herzog. The couple has since continued to work together, with Thomas providing guidance and support as Herzog strives for new personal bests and international podiums.

In July 2021 Vanessa was diagnosed with a herniated disc after suffering from back pain. With multiple podiums and medals already in the pocket this season, it’s safe to say, she is making her comeback and we are proud that she is part of Team Novus!
