Born on 12 August 1986 in Cantù, Francolini was drawn to inline skating from a young age and quickly showed immense talent in the sport. He went on to become a multiple world champion in inline skating, establishing himself as one of the top athletes in the sport.
Despite his success in roller skating, Francolini was always drawn to ice skating and had a deep-seated desire to compete in the Winter Olympics. He eventually made the transition to ice skating and quickly made his mark on the sport. He focused primarily on the marathons and mass start, quickly becoming one of the top athletes in the world in the events.
His Olympic dream brought him to Heerenveen in 2011 but due to two autoimmune diseases and a corona infection, he saw his dream go up in flames.
With the next Olympic Games being in his home country, Francolini has decided to give it one more go. With the support and guidance of Team Novus, the goal is set on Milan 2026!
